Second day of Parliament Monsoon Session: Opposition MPs protest in Parliament on Bihar voter list issue

On the second day of the monsoon session of Parliament, there was a lot of uproar in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. The opposition protested inside and outside the House against the scrutiny of voters' list in Bihar, Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The MPs also demanded the PM's reply and discussion in the House on issues like Pahalgam attack, Operation Sindoor.

Earlier, the Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 12 noon just minutes after it began. The Lok Sabha proceedings resumed amid the uproar of the opposition, but were adjourned till 2 pm shortly after.

Many leaders, including Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, stood on the steps of the Parliament House at Makar Dwar and protested against Bihar SIR. Similarly, opposition MPs in Rajya Sabha raised slogans demanding a discussion on the scrutiny of voters' list in Bihar.

Due to the uproar by the opposition, the proceedings of both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned till July 23. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will meet again on Wednesday at 11 am. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the government is ready for discussion, but the opposition is wasting public money by protesting.

Before the second day's proceedings, a meeting was held between Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in Parliament House. Other ministers including Union Minister JP Nadda also attended it. At the same time, the leaders of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance also held a meeting.
