NEW DELHI — Tensions in the national capital are set to escalate as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced a major demonstration slated for September 5. Following a live press address and high-level internal meeting today, the organization declared that thousands of supporters and student activists will march directly from India Gate to the Delhi Police Headquarters.
The announcement comes after weeks of standoff, security crackdowns, and inconclusive negotiations between protest leaders, central ministers, and law enforcement authorities in Delhi.
Escalation Over Alleged Police Excesses and Stalled Demands
The call for the September 5 march stems from growing resentment within the CJP leadership regarding the law enforcement agency's handling of previous demonstrations. During recent agitations around Jantar Mantar and Parliament, major clashes broke out resulting in lathi-charges, tear gas deployment, and multiple detentions.
CJP spokespersons publicly warned authorities to halt alleged harassment, arbitrary detentions, and excessive force against student volunteers and supporters. Citing a lack of corrective action and unresolved policy grievances—primarily surrounding examination reforms and high-level resignations—the party opted to intensify its street pressure.

The planned march route will take demonstrators through key arterial corridors of central Delhi, starting from the iconic India Gate precinct and proceeding toward the Police Headquarters.
