Former Punjab minister Majithia does not get relief from court: ADGP jail seeks reply on plea to change barrack, next hearing on 25th
The bail plea of former minister and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, arrested in the disproportionate assets case in Punjab, was heard in Mohali court today (22 July). However, the debate on this issue lasted for about two hours. The court has sought a report from the DGP Jail in 2 days regarding the change of barrack in the jail. At the same time, the government has filed a reply in the court regarding the ground of arrest. Now the next hearing of this case will be on 25 July.
Majithia was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau from Amritsar on 25 June. At the same time, it is believed that the Vigilance Bureau is preparing to present the challan soon in this case, so that Majithia can be tightened. However, CM Bhagwant Mann is calling it a big success of the campaign against drugs being run by this government.
Majithia in judicial custody till 2 August
Since the arrest of Majithia, the teams of Punjab Vigilance Bureau were continuously engaged in investigating his property. On July 19, for the first time, the SIT investigating the vigilance and drug smuggling case raided Sainik Farm in Delhi besides Chandigarh.
However, the family says that we have all the documents related to the property. There is no illegal property of any kind. At the same time, now they are fully cooperating in the investigation. Majithia is in judicial custody in Nabha jail till August 2.
The three petitions filed by Majithia are as follows -
- His barrack (prisoners' room) in the jail should be changed. His lawyers have said that he has been an MLA and former minister, so according to the jail rules (jail manual), he should be given special facilities of Orange category and he should be kept separate from other prisoners.

2. He has also demanded from the court that the reason for arrest (ground of arrest) and a copy of the jail manual be given.
3. Appeal for bail. Notice has been sent to the Punjab government in this matter.
