One Soldier Martyred in Kishtwar Encounter; Search for 3 Jaish Terrorists Enters Second Day

A gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday during a search operation. Eight soldiers were injured in the exchange of fire, and one of them succumbed to his injuries on Monday while undergoing treatment. The martyred soldier has been identified as Havildar Gajendra Singh.
 
The search operation continued for the second day in Kishtwar. According to officials, two to three terrorists belonging to the Pakistani terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed are believed to be hiding in the forests. Several teams of the army, police, and paramilitary forces have been deployed in the area to apprehend the terrorists. The forests are being searched with the help of drones and sniffer dogs.
 
The army had launched Operation Trashi-1 on Sunday in the forests of Sonar village near Mandral-Singhpora in the Taru belt of Kishtwar. The encounter with the terrorists took place during this operation.
 
Meanwhile, a balloon resembling a Pakistani plane was found on Monday in an open field in Kachariyal village, under the Pallanwala police post in the Khour sector of Jammu. The white and green balloon had "PIA" (Pakistan International Airlines) written on it.
 
Local residents first spotted the balloon and informed the police. Official sources said that after completing the preliminary investigation, the balloon has been handed over to the Pallanwala police post for further action.
 
This encounter is the third clash between security forces and terrorists in the Jammu region this year. Earlier, similar encounters took place on January 7 and January 13 in the Kahog and Najot forests of the Billawar area in Kathua district.

Separately, an encounter took place between terrorists and security forces near Sohan village in the Majalta area of ​​Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, on December 16. Two Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel were injured in the firing by the terrorists. A Jammu and Kashmir Police constable was martyred in an encounter the previous day.
