Kohli lacked reaction time, but he still held on. On the fourth ball of the 34th over, Shreyas Iyer was injured while attempting to catch wicketkeeper Alex Carey. He also had to leave the field. Carey was dismissed for 24 runs.

Harshit Rana was India's most successful bowler in this match. He dismissed four Australian batsmen. He didn't get any wickets with the new ball in Powerplay 1. Captain Shubman Gill then bowled in the middle and death overs. Rana dismissed Alex Carey, Mitchell Owen, Cooper Connolly, and Josh Hazlewood. He took the last two wickets in a single over.
