In the hilly terrain, the vehicle suddenly went out of control and plunged into a 200-foot-deep gorge.

Among the soldiers who lost their lives in this tragic accident was 23-year-old Jobanpreet Singh, a resident of Chanoli village in Nurpur Bedi block, Punjab. Jobanpreet Singh was the only son of ex-serviceman Balvir Singh. He had joined the Indian Army in September 2019 and was posted with the 8 Cavalry, Armoured Unit (4 RR).

The martyred soldier's wedding was scheduled for March 1st. The family had completed all the wedding preparations and shopping. But before the wedding, tragedy struck the family. The news of his martyrdom sent a wave of grief through Chanoli village, Nurpur Bedi, and the surrounding areas.

Father's grief pours out, makes emotional appeal to media

Speaking to the media, the martyred soldier's father, Balvir Singh, emotionally recounted his last conversation with his son two days ago. His son had told him over the phone that he was going on an operation and would call back upon his return. Then he received the devastating news that his son had been martyred.

The father said that his son had gone on a 72-hour operation. He questioned why his son's transfer was delayed for six months if it had already been approved. He folded his hands and appealed to the media and authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter so that no other mother's son would have to suffer a similar fate in the future.
