Third encounter in Amritsar in 72 hours: Punjab Police arrest armed robbers, 1 injured

Punjab Police conducted their third encounter in Amritsar within 72 hours. Commissioner Gurpreet Singh stated that two key accused in an armed robbery have been arrested. The CP stated that the accused opened fire on police during the operation. One of the accused was injured and immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to reports, a woman was robbed at gunpoint in the Maqboolpura area on November 14th. A case was registered under FIR No. 258 under the Espionage and Arms Acts.

Police conducted a swift investigation and arrested two of the accused, Jaskirat Singh alias Sahil and Anmol Buta Singh. The investigation revealed that Jaskirat Singh had hidden the Austrian-made Glock pistol used in the incident.

Firing at Police

When the police team arrived at the location indicated by the accused to recover the weapon, Jaskirat Singh suddenly opened fire with a hidden pistol. SHO Maqboolpura retaliated, shielding the team. The accused was shot in the leg. Police ensured his immediate medical attention.

Connected with gangster Gurdev Jaisal

Investigation revealed that the accused had previously been involved in several crimes in the Tarn Taran and Lopoke areas, including gunfire and robbery. Furthermore, both had connections with foreign gangster Gurdev Jaisal and were committing crimes on his instructions.

Police recovered an Austrian-made 9mm Glock pistol from the accused. The CP stated that strict action against criminals would continue and that the Punjab Police would make every effort to ensure the safety of the general public.
