Rahul Gandhi Slams PM Modi Over US Trade Deal: "Country Sold," Mentions Adani & Epstein Files.
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has alleged that PM Modi is scared and under immense pressure. He said the government is panicking and that Narendra Modi is under tremendous pressure. He called it a "side show," adding that both he and the Prime Minister know this.
During the budget session of Parliament, the opposition is demanding a discussion on the US-India trade deal. The opposition claims that the deal includes an agreement to impose a 0% tariff on US agricultural products, which they call a betrayal of the country's farmers.
On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi also tried to speak in the Lok Sabha about an article from former Army Chief Naravane's unpublished book, but the House erupted in uproar, leading to the adjournment of proceedings.
The US has reduced the 50% tariff it had imposed on India to 18%. Trump claimed that Modi had agreed to stop buying oil from Russia and instead buy more oil from the US.
Jairam Ramesh said, "Mogambo is happy in Washington."
The Congress criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the announcement of the trade deal between the US and India. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Mogambo is happy in Washington. It seems PM Modi has finally given in."
He wrote that India is getting information about its own government's actions from Trump or his appointed representatives. This is becoming a routine, he added. The Congress's X post stated that, like the ceasefire (Operation Sindoor), the trade deal was also announced by Trump. It was stated that the trade deal is being done at "Modi's request."
The Congress wrote that it was also stated that Modi would not buy oil from Russia, but would buy oil from the US and Venezuela. Has the Modi government agreed to abandon Russia in the trade deal? The statement also mentioned buying more goods from the US; if so, what happened to 'Make in India'?
Earlier, on Monday, Trump announced the trade deal between India and the US. He said that the US had reduced the 50% tariff it had imposed on India to 18%. Trump also said that India will now stop buying oil from Russia.

Today (February 2), a conversation took place between Prime Minister Modi and US President Trump. This information was not given by the Indian side, but by the US Ambassador to India. This is now becoming a routine. India gets information about its own government's actions from President Trump or his appointed representatives.
Prime Minister Modi appears clearly under pressure in front of President Trump for some reason. Forget the usual hugs and embraces, Modi now seems uncomfortable even being seen with Trump. It seems he has given up. This certainly cannot be the Father of All Deals.

Trump shared information about his phone conversation with PM Modi and the trade deal with India through a post on social media 'Truth Social'. He wrote - It was an honor to speak with Prime Minister Modi of India.
We discussed many issues, including trade and ending the Russia-Ukraine war. Prime Minister Modi agreed that India will stop buying oil from Russia and will buy much more oil from the United States. The possibility of buying oil from Venezuela was also discussed.
Prime Minister Modi has also made a major commitment to ‘Buy American’. Under this, India will buy energy, technology, agriculture, coal, and other products worth more than $500 billion from us. I am confident that the relationship between India and the United States will become even stronger.
