Weather Update: Monsoon has become fully active in most parts of India at this time. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain in many states for the next five days. Incidents like landslides and cloudbursts have increased in states like Himachal and Uttarakhand in North India.
The situation in Himachal Pradesh remains worrying. More than 250 roads have been closed due to continuous heavy rains in the state. 181 roads in Mandi district, 26 roads in Sirmaur and 23 roads in Kullu district are closed. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert from 21 to 23 July and a yellow alert till Sunday. So far 112 people have lost their lives in the state. Of these, 67 deaths have been recorded in rain-related incidents and 45 deaths in road accidents. About 200 people are injured and 35 are reported missing.
Weather pleasant due to light rain in Delhi
Light rain occurred in many areas of Delhi on Friday, bringing coolness and moisture in the atmosphere. Palam received 17.2 mm of rain, Lodhi Road and Pragati Maidan 9.5 mm, Ridge and Pusa 10.4 and 12.5 mm respectively. On Saturday too, the sky will remain cloudy and there will be chances of rain. However, areas like Janakpuri and Narela received only nominal rainfall.
How will the weather be in the eastern states?
A depression has formed near Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, which is moving in the west-north direction and will move towards Madhya Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan in the next 24 hours, as soon as it weakens, the chances of heavy rain will increase. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh between July 19 and 24. Due to this, flood-like conditions can be seen. Waterlogging may occur in low-lying areas. The state administration has been put on alert. Farmers and local citizens have been advised to remain alert.
Rain wreaks havoc with winds in South India
There is a possibility of heavy rain in Kerala and Karnataka of South India on Saturday and Sunday. Along with this, strong winds will blow at a speed of 40-50 km per hour. There is a warning of heavy rain between 19 and 24 July in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Lakshadweep. Fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea due to rising waves in the sea.

Continuous rain continues in the Northeast and Western Ghats region
Heavy rain and thunderstorm warning has been issued in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh located in the Northeast and Western Ghats region from 19 to 22 July. At the same time, heavy rain is expected in Goa and Maharashtra Ghat areas from 19 to 24 July. This area is sensitive to landslides and waterlogging, so it is necessary to be cautious.
