Divorce by Mutual Consent in July This new chapter comes just months after the Supreme Court granted Omar Abdullah and his first wife, Payal, a divorce by mutual consent on July 31 this year. The couple was married for 32 years and had been living separately since 2011. Abdullah had initially approached the apex court after the Delhi High Court refused to dissolve their marriage, and both parties eventually agreed to settle all disputes and part ways amicably.

Politicians and Journalists Tying the Knot This is not the first time a prominent politician has married a journalist. In 2015, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh married TV journalist Amrita Rai according to Hindu rituals in Chennai. Digvijaya Singh’s first wife, Asha Singh, had passed away in 2013 following a prolonged battle with cancer.
