Crackdown on Drug Peddlers in Jalandhar: Bulldozer Action Initiated on Accused Gagandeep's House in Basti Sheikh
Jalandhar: In a stern move against the drug menace in Punjab, the police and civil administration are gearing up for major demolition action in Jalandhar West. A bulldozer is set to roll over the residence of an accused drug peddler located in Mohalla Tej Mohan Nagar, Basti Sheikh. The action is part of the state government's zero-tolerance policy against drug smuggling and illegal properties acquired or utilized by habitual offenders.
Accused Currently Lodged in Jail According to the police, the owner of the house, Gagandeep Singh, has been deeply involved in the illegal drug trade in the area. In August this year, the police arrested Gagandeep for the second time in connection with drug smuggling. An FIR was registered under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and he was subsequently sent to prison. While the accused remains behind bars, the administration is now targeting the infrastructure associated with him.
70-Year-Old Dilapidated Structure Interestingly, the house slated for demolition is already in a highly precarious condition. Reports indicate that the structure is nearly 70 years old and was originally built by Gagandeep's grandfather. The building is so dilapidated that portions of it are naturally crumbling and falling apart. Despite its ruinous state, the authorities are proceeding with the official demolition to send a strong administrative message against drug-related crimes.

Family Residing in the House Before his arrest, Gagandeep Singh lived in this ancestral house with his family. Currently, his wife, two sons, and a young daughter are residing in the same structure. The impending bulldozer action has created a stir in the Basti Sheikh locality, reinforcing the police department's firm stance that no leniency will be shown to those involved in ruining the youth through drugs.
