Horror in Punjab: Law Student Shot Dead After Rejecting Proposal in Classroom

On Monday, a student shot and killed a female student in a classroom at a law college in Tarn Taran, Punjab. He then shot himself, committing suicide at the same location.

The deceased student has been identified as Sandeep Kaur (20), a first-year law student. The accused student is Prince Raj Singh from Tarn Taran, who was also a student at the same college. Police have sealed the law college and are investigating the reasons behind the murder.

The girl's mother alleged that the college authorities told her there had been a minor altercation and her daughter had been injured. When she arrived at the college, her daughter was already dead.

According to the police, the motive behind the incident is still unclear. Initially, it is being considered a case of unrequited love.

Police suspect that the young man proposed to the girl on February 8th during Valentine's Week, but she refused. When the girl did not reciprocate his feelings, the student took this extreme step.

Here's how the student murdered the girl in the crowded classroom:

CCTV footage from the college classroom related to the murder has surfaced. The footage is from around 9 AM. Classes had not yet started, and students were milling around in the classroom. During this time, the accused student, Prince Raj, entered the classroom.

He walked straight to the front. Sandeep Kaur was sitting on a bench with her friend. The accused argued with her briefly. Then he pulled out a pistol and shot the girl in the head at point-blank range.

The girl fell to the ground immediately. Her friend, who was standing with her, was stunned. Before she could react, Prince Raj reloaded the pistol and shot himself in the head. He also fell to the ground.

The friend then tried to help Sandeep Kaur, but due to the point-blank range shot, her brain was severely damaged, and she died on the spot.

Seeing this, the friend ran out and informed the college management. Other students also arrived at the scene. The police were immediately notified. The mother said, "They called me and said my daughter was injured, come quickly."

The girl's mother, Harjinder Kaur, said that her daughter, Sandeep Kaur, had left home in the morning, dressed nicely. She didn't have any quarrel with anyone. Her teacher called and said that her daughter was seriously injured and to come quickly.

Harjinder Kaur said, "When I arrived at the college, I saw that my daughter was dead. The girl's body was completely covered in blood. She had been shot in the head. We learned that a boy from Tarn Taran had fired the shot. The pistol was also found lying inside."

The police didn't even let us go near the body. The deceased student's father has passed away. She has six sisters and one younger brother.

No security for students at the college
Parents who arrived at the scene after the incident said that there is no security for the children here. No one checked whether a student was bringing a pistol inside. Then the mother was called at home and told that her daughter had a minor fight. They said her head was injured in the fight. When they came and checked, the girl had been shot. We demand that the administration take action against the college management.

Police investigating where the weapon came from

ACP Jagbir said that the girl was sitting on a bench. Classes hadn't started yet. The girl died instantly after being shot. The boy also shot himself and was immediately taken to the hospital, where he also died. The police are investigating where the accused young man got the pistol from. The police are also checking whether his father had a licensed pistol. If not, then this pistol could be illegal. This is also being investigated.
