FIR against those who broke the gate of Punjab University: Allegations of scuffle with the police,
Police have filed a report regarding the November 10th disturbance at Punjab University Gate No. 1. Under the banner of the "Save Punjab University Front," students and outsiders attempted to forcibly enter the university and scuffled with police officers on duty. Examinations scheduled for November 18, 19, and 20 at Punjab University have been canceled.
Following the incident, police declared the gathering an unlawful assembly. The crowd included students from various districts of Punjab, Punjab University students, and members of various organizations. A case has been registered against them under sections 221, 223, 191(2), 190, 115(2), 121(1), and 132 of the BNS Act 2023.
Action taken on SI's statements
SI Pratibha, posted at Sector 31 police station, stated in her statement that the police force deployed at the university tried their best to control the protest, but the protesting students and outsiders tried to force their way inside and even scuffled with the police. According to the police, the protest included students from various districts of Punjab, Punjab University students, and members of other organizations.
The report stated that the police repeatedly explained to the crowd that it was important to maintain law and order on the university campus, but the protesters refused to listen. Media teams and photographers were also present at the scene. Meanwhile, the protesters broke the lock of Gate No. 1 and tried to enter by removing the barricades.
During this scuffle, SP Sondhi, Inspector Rohit Kumar (SHO Sector 17), SRCT Vipin Sharma, and other police officers were injured.
Obstruction of duty, challenge to law and order
The report states that the mob not only clashed with the police but also obstructed government duty. According to the police, the presence of media teams and photographers further agitated the crowd, leading to a worsening of the situation.

Police are now identifying those involved in the protest using CCTV footage, videos, and photographs. Notices will soon be issued to several protesters, and arrests may also be made.
