Disappointing news has emerged for cricket fans in Bengaluru ahead of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Star batsman Virat Kohli will no longer be seen playing at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Due to security concerns, the venue for all Vijay Hazare Trophy matches in Bengaluru has been changed. These matches will now be played at the BCCI Centre of Excellence instead of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
This decision was made on the instructions of the Karnataka government. An official from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) confirmed the change. As a result of this change, the match between Delhi and Andhra Pradesh scheduled for Wednesday will also be played at the new venue. Both Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant are expected to play in this match, but fans will not be able to see them at the stadium.
Entire plan changed due to security reasons
The Karnataka Home Ministry informed the KSCA about security concerns on Tuesday morning. A decision was made immediately, and all the concerned teams were notified. Not only the matches, but both teams' pre-match training sessions will also now be held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
Most importantly, no spectators will be allowed entry to any of the Vijay Hazare Trophy matches in Bengaluru. This means fans will not be able to watch Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and other star players in action at the stadium. This decision has been taken entirely keeping security arrangements in mind.
There was already tremendous excitement surrounding Virat Kohli's return to domestic cricket. He is playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy after almost 15 years. This news comes as a major blow to fans who were hoping to see him play at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Now, all eyes will be on how the Delhi team performs under these changed circumstances and how Virat Kohli begins his domestic ODI cricket campaign.
