Bangladesh Crushes Pakistan in 15.1 Overs: Wins 1st ODI by 8 Wickets, Nahid Rana Takes 5-Fer

Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets in the first ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Pakistan were bowled out for 114 runs in the match played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana took 5 wickets. In reply, Bangladesh achieved the target of 115 runs in just 15.1 overs, losing only 2 wickets. Tanzid Hasan Tamim played a quick innings of 67 not out.

Chasing the target of 115 runs, Bangladesh did not have a good start, with Saif Hasan falling to Shaheen Afridi for 4 runs. Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Nazmul Hossain Shanto then added 82 runs for the second wicket, turning the match into a one-sided affair.

Tanzid Hasan scored an unbeaten 67 off 42 balls, hitting 7 fours and 5 sixes. Meanwhile, Nazmul Hussain Shanto scored 27 runs off 33 balls. Finally, Liton Das remained unbeaten on 3 runs, and the team achieved the target in 15.1 overs.

Nahid Rana's 5 wickets

Earlier, after losing the toss and opting to bat first, Pakistan were bowled out for 114 runs in 30.4 overs. Bangladesh fast bowler Nahid Rana bowled brilliantly, taking 5 wickets for 24 runs in 7 overs.

Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz also took 3 wickets for 29 runs in 10 overs. Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman also took one wicket each.

Pakistan's innings crumbled after a good start

Pakistan got off to a good start, with Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat adding 41 runs for the first wicket. Farhan scored 27 and Sadaqat 18, but the team continued to lose wickets thereafter.

Nahid Rana dealt Pakistan the first blow by dismissing Farhan. He then dismissed Shamim Hussain, Mohammad Rizwan, and Salman Agha. His bowling completely shattered Pakistan's top and middle order.

Faheem Ashraf's 37

Pakistan's middle-order batsmen failed to deliver. Hussain Talat was dismissed for 4, Abdul Samad for 0, and captain Shaheen Afridi for 4. Finally, all-rounder Faheem Ashraf scored 37 runs in 47 balls, hitting six fours and a six, the team's highest score.

32-run partnership for the last wicket

Pakistan had lost nine wickets for 82 runs. Faheem Ashraf and Abrar Ahmed then added 32 runs for the last wicket to take the team's score to 114. Abrar Ahmed remained unbeaten after 10 balls.

Four Pakistani Players Make ODI Debut

Four Pakistani players made their ODI debuts in this match. Abdul Samad, Maaz Sadaqat, Sahibzada Farhan, and Shamim Hussain made their ODI debuts. However, these players failed to score big in their debut matches. Farhan top-scored with 27 runs, while Maaz Sadaqat made 18. Shamim Hussain scored 4 runs, and Abdul Samad was dismissed without scoring.

Bangladesh Team Playing Its First Match After Boycott

The Bangladesh team is playing its first international match since boycotting the T20 World Cup. Prior to the tournament, the Bangladesh Cricket Board and players had refused to travel to India due to security concerns. The team stated that under the current circumstances, there were concerns about the players' safety and travel, making participation in the tournament impossible.
