Punjab to soon have a law on desecration of religious texts: 15-member committee to seek suggestions from the public

Punjab government is making a strict law to stop the desecration of religious texts, for which the first meeting of the 15-member select committee formed in the assembly was held to prepare the draft.

Committee chairman Dr. Inderbir Nijjar said that the report will be submitted to the speaker within six months. He said that suggestions will be taken from the general public for law formation through email, WhatsApp and post, the strategy of which will be decided in the next meeting.

Around 13 members attended the first meeting held on Monday and the next meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday at 2:30 pm. There is a plan to call a meeting every week and if needed, a sub-committee will also be formed.

Will be able to give suggestions to MLAs as well

Dr. Inderbir Nijjar said that there are 117 MLAs in the whole of Punjab. He said that if anyone wants to give suggestions, he can give it to them as well. He said that our effort will be to remove the shortcomings that were left earlier in making the law.

These people are the members of the committee

The chairman of this committee is Aam Aadmi Party MLA and former minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar. The committee includes MLAs from AAP, Congress and other parties, former ministers and educationists. All these members together will help the government in making this law.
