In the auction of VIP number plates held in Haryana on Wednesday (December 10), the VIP number HR88B8888 was sold for only ₹26.71 lakh. In the previous auction, this number had fetched a bid of ₹1.17 crore, but the bidder failed to pay the amount. Following this, Cabinet Minister Anil Vij had ordered an investigation into the bidder's assets.

Consequently, the transport department had to conduct a fresh auction for the VIP number HR88B8888. The person who had placed the bid in the previous auction was not allowed to participate this time. However, details about who purchased the number this time have not yet been made public.
