Ruckus over death in Hisar Police custody: Angry people locked the post

A person died in police custody in Hisar, Haryana. On Tuesday night, the police caught him in a drunken state on the complaint of his wife and locked him in the lockup. Today, on Wednesday morning, when the policemen saw him, he was lying dead.

On receiving this information, the SP reached the outpost and investigated the matter. On the other hand, on receiving this information, the family members of the deceased reached the spot. They started creating a ruckus, blaming the police personnel for the death. They also locked the police outpost.

During this, the son of the deceased said that his father died due to the negligence of the police. When the police took his father away at night, he was in fine condition. The police kept him in a barrack without a fan in such heat. There was neither water nor anything else here. No one took care of him throughout the night. Action should be taken against the guilty police personnel.

On the other hand, no statement has come from the police in this matter yet. Neither the SP has issued any statement nor the police outpost in-charge. The police is maintaining silence in the matter.

Wife called on Dial 112, said- husband is beating
The person has been identified as Sanjay Kantiwal (48), resident of village Mangali Jhara. According to the police, Sanjay's wife Sumitra called on Dial 112 on Tuesday night and informed that her husband was quarreling after drinking alcohol. On this, the Dial 112 team reached the village and caught Sanjay and brought him to Mangali police station. Here he was locked in the lockup.

Found dead in the lockup in the morning, panic in the police
When the police personnel reached the lockup on Wednesday morning, he was found lying unconscious. When checked, he had stopped breathing. The death in the lockup created panic among the police personnel. Immediately information was given to SP Shashank Kumar. As soon as the matter came to light, SP Shashank Kumar reached Sawan Chowki and inspected it. After this, the forensic team also reached the spot and investigated.

Wife said, in the morning the police car took us to the police station too

On the other hand, Sanjay's wife Sumitra told that she has 2 children, one son and one daughter. On Tuesday evening her husband Sanjay was beating her after drinking alcohol. My son was not at home. After this, she called on dial 112 and informed the police. Today at 8 am a police car came and said that your husband's health is very bad, come quickly. When we reached the post and saw, the husband was dead.

Villagers created a ruckus, locked the police post
On getting the information, a large number of villagers from the village reached the post. They blamed the police personnel for Sanjay's death. After this, they started a ruckus demanding action. They demanded immediate action against the police personnel guilty of Sanjay's death. The police tried to convince them, but the family did not agree. They created a ruckus and locked the gate of the post.

On the other hand, deceased Sanjay's sister Suman also reached the post. He said that I came to know about my brother's death in the morning. His brother was a labourer. On Tuesday night, my wife and children called the police and got my brother arrested. His brother died due to the negligence of the police. Action should be taken against the accused policemen.

Son said- Police gave a blank form and asked me to sign it

The deceased's son Amit said that I came to know at 6 am that my father Sanjay had died. When he reached the police station, he was told that his father had died. The police gave me a form and asked me to sign it. When I saw the form, it only said that the death had occurred. I did not sign it. The son said that this entire matter should be investigated. Father had drunk a little alcohol. He is not satisfied with the action taken by the police. This entire matter should be investigated impartially.

Lawyer said- Police cannot keep a person in custody without notice

Senior Advocate Lal Bahadur Khowal said that under the new rules of the Indian Justice Code (BNS), now the police cannot keep any person in custody without giving notice.
