Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker wins gold at the national competition
Double Olympic medalist and Khel Ratna awardee Manu Bhaker has won the gold medal in the women's 25m sports pistol event at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competition (NSCC) held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range. Earlier, Manu Bhaker had finished 5th in the 10m air pistol final at the ISSF World Cup in Doha.
In the senior women's final, Manu Bhaker won the gold medal with 36 hits, leaving Divya T.S. of Karnataka four hits behind, who secured the silver medal with a score of 32. Along with Manu Bhaker, Palak Gulia, also from Jhajjar, won the bronze medal in the junior women's shooting event with 20 hits. Palak Gulia is from Nimana village in Jhajjar district and has previously won a medal at the Asian Championships.
Two Olympic Bronze Medals
Manu Bhaker, a daughter of Goria village in Jhajjar district of Haryana, has added a golden chapter to Indian sports history. With her outstanding performance at the Paris Olympics 2024, Manu not only made the country proud by winning two bronze medals in shooting but also set several new records.
Manu Bhaker is the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal. She is also the first Indian woman athlete to win two medals in a single Olympic Games.

Historic Achievement at the Paris Olympics
Manu Bhaker won the bronze medal in the women's 10m air pistol event at the Paris Olympics. She then added another bronze medal to India's tally in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. This achievement is considered a milestone for Indian shooting.
