The second phase of the war against drugs campaign was launched on Wednesday at Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar, Punjab. The launch was inaugurated by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
During the event, Arvind Kejriwal said that this project was started with pure intentions. This kind of initiative has not been undertaken in any other state, not just Punjab. It's not that drugs are only sold in Punjab; they are sold in Haryana, Delhi, and Gujarat as well. But the governments there have done nothing.
He said that before us, the Akali Dal government was in power. During their time, drugs reached every household. Their leaders started supplying drugs. Then Captain Amarinder Singh's government came. He took an oath to eradicate drugs in 60 days, but he couldn't do anything.
People tried to scare us, but we weren't afraid.
Kejriwal said that when we had to start the war against drugs, many people tried to scare us, saying that these are very dangerous people. They can harm your families. But we weren't afraid because we had made a promise to our people.
He said that action was taken in your villages, constituencies, and areas. The drug traffickers had built houses, mansions, and buildings. Bulldozer action was taken against them. The person whose name people were afraid to even utter has been caught and put in jail. People didn't have the courage to even take his name. People, the administration, and the police were afraid of him. It was the courage of the Aam Aadmi Party that put him behind bars.
The Chief Minister said that whoever comes here starts criticizing Punjab. I went to the North Zone Culture meeting. In front of Home Minister Amit Shah, people from Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan, every state, were saying that Punjab is our elder brother, give us this and that. I said, "You keep looting the elder brother." I said that we don't have coal or oil, otherwise they would have demanded a share in that too. I said that we have nothing, not even water.
The Akali Dal would only offer jobs cleaning up dinosaur droppings.
He said that in four years, 61,000 jobs have been given on the basis of merit. Our intentions are clear. Jobs are being given according to qualifications. The Akali Dal doesn't give jobs at all. The Akali Dal would only offer jobs like cleaning up dinosaur droppings.

CM Bhagwant Mann said that we will protect your ideology. I'm not saying that we have completely eradicated drug abuse in Phase 1. But it has been significantly reduced. We haven't reached our destination yet. We are here today to plan the second phase of this campaign. We will fight this battle like a war. We have to save our country, our community, our farmers, and Punjab. This is a vibrant Punjab.
Some hateful people in the country say that a bouquet should only have one type of flower. But that's not possible. Bengal has a different system. The South has a different culture. We stand for your rights, whether it's the BBMB issue or the university issue. In four years, we have given 61,000 jobs based on merit. Our intentions are clear.
