PM Modi receives the Order of Oman award: Sultan Haitham conferred the honor.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received Oman's second-highest honor. He was awarded the Order of Oman by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq.
Earlier, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting. During the meeting, a trade agreement was signed between India and Oman.
The agreement will directly benefit Indian sectors such as textiles, footwear, automobiles, gems and jewelry, renewable energy, and auto components. Negotiations on this agreement began in November 2023.
Earlier, the Prime Minister stated that the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and Oman will shape the direction of relations between the two countries for many decades to come. He described it as a blueprint for the shared future of both nations.
Modi addressed the Business Summit
Addressing the India-Oman Business Summit in Muscat, Modi praised the strong relations between the two countries. He also appealed to startups to invest in India, innovate, and grow together with India and Oman.
Prime Minister Modi said:
"Today we are taking a historic decision whose impact will be felt for many decades to come. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) will give us new confidence and new energy in the 21st century. This is a blueprint for our shared future. It will boost our trade, instill new confidence in investment, and open doors to new opportunities in every sector."
Modi said: Friendship with Oman will not change
Upon arriving in Oman, PM Modi said on Thursday that no matter how much the times change, India's friendship with Oman will remain unchanged.

He also addressed the Indian diaspora in the capital, Muscat. He praised the Indian expatriates, saying that wherever they go, they appreciate the diversity of that place.
PM Modi arrived in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on Wednesday evening. He was welcomed at the airport by Oman's Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs, Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said. The two leaders also held formal talks. Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said hosted a dinner for PM Modi that evening.
