Delhi Excise Policy Case: Kejriwal, Sisodia Acquitted in CBI Case as Court Cites Flawed Chargesheet
A Delhi court has acquitted former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the CBI liquor scam case.
The Rouse Avenue Court on Friday ruled that the allegations against both cannot be proven without evidence. The CBI had filed a charge sheet against a total of 23 people in this case. The court refused to frame charges against any of them, acquitting them.
Outside the court, Kejriwal spoke to the media, during which he broke down in tears. He said...
For the past few years, the BJP has been involved in liquor scams, leveling allegations against us. Today, the court dismissed all the charges and discharged us all. We always said that we have faith in the Indian judicial system. I am very grateful to the judge who gave us justice. Truth has prevailed. God is with us. Modi and Amit Shah together hatched this biggest political conspiracy in independent India. To destroy the Aam Aadmi Party, they jailed five of its most prominent leaders. This has never happened in the history of independent India. A sitting Chief Minister was dragged from his home and imprisoned for six months. Our Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, was imprisoned for two years. We were pelted with mud. Debates ran on TV channels 24 hours a day, and news was shown that... Arvind Kejriwal broke down in tears. Manish Sisodia, standing beside him, consoled him... After this, Kejriwal resumed his speech, saying...
I have earned only honesty in my life. They filed a false case. Today, it has been proven that Kejriwal is staunchly honest. Manish Sisodia is staunchly honest, and the Aam Aadmi Party is staunchly honest. I want to tell the Prime Minister: don't play with the country like this for power. Don't play with the Constitution like this. You want power, do good work. The country faces so many big problems today. There is inflation, unemployment, broken roads across the country, pollution everywhere. There are so many problems everywhere, come to power by solving them. Why file false cases against Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party? Come to power by doing good work. Firing such false cases and spending 24 hours filing absurd cases against the opposition and putting them in jail does not suit the Prime Minister. This does not move the country forward. The country will progress only when the problems of the people are resolved.

Meanwhile, Manish Sisodia said on the court's decision, "We are once again proud of our Constitution and B.R. Ambedkar, who gave us such a Constitution. Truth has once again triumphed."
