Death threat to Rahul Gandhi: Congress writes letter to Shah

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal wrote a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah on September 28th, referring to a former ABVP leader's death threat against Rahul Gandhi during a TV debate. The letter stated that the lack of immediate action against the BJP spokesperson would be considered complicity in the violence against Rahul Gandhi.

Venugopal wrote to Amit Shah, "This threat is not the careless reaction of a small official. It is the result of a deliberately created toxic atmosphere of hatred that makes the opposition leader insecure. Now it is your responsibility to explain which ideology your party and government support."

Indeed, a live debate on the Ladakh violence was taking place on a news channel in Kerala. During this, former ABVP leader Printu Mahadev, speaking on behalf of the BJP, said that Rahul Gandhi would be shot in the chest.

Reacting to this statement, VD Satheesan, Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, said that they want to eliminate Rahul Gandhi. The democratic people of India will not allow this to happen. He does not bow down to anyone because he is fighting against communalism and fascism.

Allegations in Venugopal's letter

Do you openly support criminal intimidation, death threats, and the politics of violence that is poisoning India's public life?

This government is playing with fire by politicizing a sensitive issue like the security of a leader who lost two members of his family in murders.

If no action is taken, giving license to legitimize and normalize violence against an opposition leader would be a serious violation of your oath as Union Home Minister.

Rahul Gandhi is not in India, but on a tour of South American countries

Rahul Gandhi is not in India these days. He is on a tour of four South American countries. During this time, he may interact with political leaders, students, and businesspeople. Pawan Khera, in-charge of the Congress media and publicity department, gave this information on Sunday, but did not specify which countries Gandhi would be in. He also did not specify how long he would be out of the country.

However, reports suggest that he may travel to Brazil and Colombia, where he will hold meetings with presidents and senior leaders from several countries.

Recently, the CRPF expressed concern over Rahul Gandhi's security.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), deployed to protect Rahul Gandhi, has accused him of violating security protocols. The CRPF recently wrote to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, stating that Rahul Gandhi traveled abroad six times in the past nine months without prior notice. During this period, he traveled to Italy, Vietnam, Dubai, Qatar, London, and Malaysia.

The CRPF also sent a separate letter to Rahul Gandhi, stating that such lapses could weaken his Z+ category security and put him at risk. The agency stated that it had raised this issue previously.

In 2019, the central government withdrew the Special Protection Group (SPG) security provided to then-Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her children, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. This security cover was replaced by the CRPF. SPG security remained with the Gandhi family for nearly three decades.
