ASI & Home Guard Murder: Accused's Family Agrees to Post-Mortem Following Court Orders
A post-mortem examination is being conducted today for Ranjeet Singh, the accused in the ASI-Home Guard murder case in Gurdaspur, who was killed in an encounter. The CGM Court ordered this while disposing of a petition filed by Ranjeet Singh's mother, and the family agreed.
Harvinder Singh Malli, the deceased's uncle, stated that they have arrived at the Civil Hospital to conduct the post-mortem, complying with the court's order. A team of doctors and lawyers are also present at the hospital. However, family members are demanding that they be allowed to view Ranjeet Singh's body before the post-mortem.
It should be noted that on February 22, the bodies of ASI Gurnam Singh and Home Guard Jawan Ashok Kumar Shamim were found at the Adian police post, just one and a half kilometers from the India-Pakistan international border.

He stated that the postmortem should be videographed. The court notice has reached him, and he should be informed of the contents of the notice. If the administration agrees to all his demands, then we will conduct the postmortem.
Meanwhile, the court rejected the demand for a postmortem for Ranjeet Singh's body to be conducted at the PGI or AIIMS. The court clarified that this demand was not within its jurisdiction and was solely within the jurisdiction of the High Court.
The court also stated that the deceased's body had been lying at the Civil Hospital for several days, so an immediate postmortem was necessary. The CGM immediately ordered the SMO of the Civil Hospital to form a board of doctors for the postmortem.
Ranjeet was killed and five other officers were injured in the encounter.
It is noteworthy that the police encounter occurred at around 3 a.m. on February 25th. Ranjeet was arrested and taken to recover the weapon, but he escaped when the SHO's vehicle overturned. A CIA team then surrounded him in the Purana Shala area.
On seeing the police, he opened fire and attempted to escape. During the crossfire, Ranjeet was shot and killed. Five other officers, including CIA in-charge Inspector Gurmeet Singh, were injured.
