Kashmir continued to rot for decades due to Congress' mistakes: PM Modi

PM Modi arrived in Gujarat on Friday to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He paid floral tributes to the 182-meter-tall statue of Sardar Patel (the Statue of Unity) in Ekta Nagar, Narmada district. The National Unity Day parade was held in Ekta Nagar.

Addressing the event, the PM said, "Sardar Patel wanted to integrate all of Kashmir into India, but then-Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru prevented this from happening. Kashmir was divided with a separate constitution. The country burned for decades in the fire of Congress's mistakes."

The PM said, "Congress inherited not only its party and power, but also a slave mentality from the British. When the British partitioned Bengal in 1905, Vande Mataram became the voice of national unity and solidarity. The British tried to ban Vande Mataram, but were never successful."

Modi said, "Congress accomplished what the British could not. Congress removed a portion of Vande Mataram on religious grounds." This means that Congress divided society and furthered the British agenda.

Modi said, "Congress inherited a slave mentality from the British."
Prime Minister Modi said, "Congress not only inherited its party and power from the British, but also imbibed a slave mentality." Vande Mataram will celebrate its 150th anniversary in a few days. When the British partitioned Bengal in 1905, Vande Mataram became the voice of the citizens in protest.

Modi said, "The British tried to ban the chanting of Vande Mataram. They never succeeded. The chant of Vande Mataram resonates in every corner of India. What the British failed to do, Congress achieved. Congress removed a portion of Vande Mataram on religious grounds."

PM said, "The unity and security of the country are threatened by infiltrators."
PM Modi said, "Today, our country's unity and internal security are facing a serious threat due to infiltrators. For decades, foreign infiltrators have been entering our country, exploiting its resources, and disturbing its demographic balance."

Modi further said, "Unfortunately, previous governments ignored and turned a blind eye to this serious problem. Previous governments jeopardized national security for vote-bank politics. For the first time, the country has taken a firm and decisive stance to confront this challenge directly and protect its integrity."

PM said, "I announced the Demographic Mission from the Red Fort." But today, when we are raising this issue seriously, some people are putting their own self-interest above national interest. These people are fighting a political battle to protect the rights of infiltrators.

Modi said, "Kashmir burned for decades in the fire of Congress's mistake."
The Prime Minister said, "Congress never followed Sardar Patel's policies. Therefore, the country had to suffer the consequences in the form of violence and bloodshed. Sardar Patel wanted all of Kashmir to be united, just as he had united other princely states. But Nehru prevented his wish from being fulfilled."

Modi said, "Kashmir was divided with a separate constitution and a separate flag. Kashmir burned for decades in the fire of Congress's mistake. Due to Congress's poor policies, a part of Kashmir fell under illegal occupation of Pakistan."

The Prime Minister said, "Pakistan encouraged terrorism. Kashmir and the country had to pay such a heavy price. Congress always bowed to terrorism. Congress forgot Sardar, but we did not."

PM Modi said, "Sardar Patel believed in creating history, not writing it."
PM Modi said, "Sardar Patel believed that we should not waste time writing history, but rather work hard to create it. His biography reflects this sentiment. The decisions Sardar Patel took created history."

The Prime Minister said, "Patel made the seemingly impossible task of unifying more than 550 princely states after independence possible. The idea of one India, a great India was paramount for him. On Sardar Patel's 150th birth anniversary, millions of people took the oath of unity in this Ekta Nagar today."

Modi further said, "We have resolved to promote actions that strengthen national unity. Every citizen should abandon any thought or action that weakens our nation's unity. This is the need of the hour for our country."

Modi said, "We will free the country from Naxalism, Maoism, and terrorism."
PM said, "This is the India of the Iron Man Sardar." We won the ideological battle and also confronted Naxalites in their homes. The results are before the country today. Before 2014, nearly 125 districts across the country were under the grip of Maoist terror. Today, this number has shrunk to 11. Of those, Naxalism is severely prevalent in only three districts. Today, from this very land, I assure the entire nation that until the country is completely free of Naxalism, Maoism, and terrorism, we will not be able to stop them.
