NEW DELHI — Climate and education reform activist Sonam Wangchuk announced his readiness to call off his multi-week hunger strike, provided the Union Government issues a firm assurance that no student or young protester will face legal prosecution, harassment, or retaliatory police action.

The 59-year-old innovator made his position clear in a direct letter addressed to Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh, following their visit to his bedside at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi.

Background of the Hunger Strike

Sonam Wangchuk began his indefinite hunger strike in late June to highlight widespread concerns over national competitive examination leaks and structural issues in higher education testing. Participating alongside youth movements in Delhi's Jantar Mantar, Wangchuk called for systemic overhaul, transparent investigation procedures, and parliamentary accountability regarding examination integrity.

As his health steadily declined after three weeks of fasting, Delhi Police shifted him to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors have been continuously monitoring his vital signs.

Wangchuk's Statement from Hospital

In his letter, Wangchuk acknowledged the political outreach and thanked cabinet ministers for initiating direct dialogue. However, he placed the safety of student participants at the center of any potential resolution:

"I want to live. I want to return to my students, to education, and to the work that has defined my life. But I cannot do so at the cost of the very young people for whom this movement began. The march remained peaceful despite immense tension. I sincerely hope that this faith in democratic institutions is not further undermined by legal cases or vindictive action against participants."

He further urged the government to ensure adequate support for affected families and to allow a thorough, constructive debate on educational reforms on the floor of Parliament.

Following visits and written assurances from dozens of lawmakers, parliamentarians expressed optimism that the stalemate would resolve swiftly once formal commitments are logged. Civil society leaders and student representatives have maintained that a written undertaking regarding non-retaliation remains the final benchmark required before Wangchuk officially breaks his fast.

दिल्ली पुलिस ने जयपुर से अभय सोनी उर्फ ​​कार्तिक उर्फ ​​कबीर (22) को गिरफ्तार किया है। वह चित्रकूट थाना इलाके में राम पथ का रहने वाला है। उसने 10वीं तक पढ़ाई की है। पैसों की समस्या के कारण उसने फेसबुक पर राजस्थान शूटर्स के नाम से एक ग्रुप बनाया। डकैती और अन्य अपराध करने के लिए अन्य आरोपियों के संपर्क में आया।

दिल्ली से जसप्रीत सिंह उर्फ ​​राहुल (25) को गिरफ्तार किया गया है। वह रसूलपुर कलां का रहने वाला है। जसप्रीत को दिल्ली के शास्त्री पार्क से गिरफ्तार किया गया है। इसके पास से 32 बोर की एक पिस्तौल और 4 जिंदा कारतूस मिले हैं। जसप्रीत ने 12वीं तक की पढ़ाई की है। वह पहले भी दो आपराधिक मामलों में शामिल रहा है।
दिल्ली से पकड़ा गया दूसरा आरोपी धर्मेंद्र उर्फ ​​कार्तिक है। जो पोस्ट संडवा के गांव पतरा का रहने वाला है। इसे दिल्ली के हजरत निजामुद्दीन रेलवे स्टेशन के पास से गिरफ्तार किया गया। इसके पास से .32 बोर की एक सिंगल शॉट पिस्टल और 3 जिंदा कारतूस मिले हैं। धर्मेंद्र ने 7वीं क्लास तक पढ़ाई की है।

वह कोयंबटूर में एक कोल्ड स्टोरेज में काम कर रहा था। एमपी के उज्जैन के गैंगस्टर दुर्लभ कश्यप का गुर्गा था। दुर्लभ की 2020 में हत्या कर दी गई थी। फेसबुक पर विभिन्न समूहों में शामिल हो गया। खुद को आपराधिक गतिविधियों में शामिल कर लिया।

हरियाणा से आरोपी मंजीत (24) को गिरफ्तार किया गया। जो हरियाणा के सोनीपत स्थित वीपीओ बरोटा का रहने वाला है। इसे यूपी के अलीगढ़ स्थित गांव खीरी दहिया से गिरफ्तार किया गया। मंजीत 9वीं पास है। लॉरेंस विश्नोई गैंग से प्रेरित था। गैंग के सदस्यों को हथियार सप्लाई कर रहा था।
