Sequence of Events

Shortly after departing North Goa at 9:16 AM, the flight crew detected a mid-air technical snag involving one of the aircraft's engines while cruising at approximately 14,000 feet near the coast of southern Maharashtra. Following standard operating protocols, the pilots alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC) and requested an immediate return.

ATC declared a full emergency at the airport, readying fire tenders and emergency response teams. The pilots executed a safe turnback and landed the aircraft on Runway 28 at 9:51 AM without further escalation. All 229 passengers and crew members disembarked safely and were moved to the airport boarding area.

Airline Response & Regulation

IndiGo confirmed that the aircraft was grounded immediately for comprehensive technical inspection and maintenance checks. Alternative travel arrangements, along with light refreshments and updates, were provided to accommodate the affected passengers for their trip to Delhi. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was notified per standard procedure to oversee safety clearance before the plane returns to service.
