Over a span of just 15 days, law enforcement authorities have apprehended two women smugglers operating in different parts of the city.

The investigation has exposed a concerning trend: these operatives were intentionally using their age and gender as a shield to deflect suspicion while actively distributing high-grade heroin to local youth and students.

The Modus Operandi: Exploiting Gender and Age to Evade Law Enforcement

According to senior police officials, the interrogation of the arrested individuals revealed a highly calculated strategy. The women admitted that they believed security checkpoints and patrolling parties would be less likely to frisk or deeply suspect women, particularly during odd hours or at transit points.

By posing as ordinary commuters or local residents running daily errands, they managed to transport mid-to-high-value consignments of heroin (commonly known as chitta in the region) directly to local peddlers and addicts.

First Arrest: Habitual Offender Caught in the Act

The first arrest involved a woman who was intercepted following a specific tip-off near a local transit point. Upon a thoroughly regulated search conducted by female police personnel, a commercial quantity of heroin was recovered from her personal belongings.

A deeper look into her criminal database revealed that this was not her first offense. She is a history-sheeter with a prior case registered against her under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
