Currently, a ceasefire-like situation prevails. Should the need arise, all three services stand fully prepared for 'Operation Sindoor 2.0'.

The Army Chief remarked that Operation Sindoor has established a benchmark regarding how India responds to any provocation. He urged the officers passing out today to uphold this benchmark right from the very inception of their careers.

On Saturday, the Army Chief attended the 150th Passing Out Parade of the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla, Pune. He took the salute of the parade, which featured 355 cadet officers.

During the event, the cadets performed a march past. The Air Force flypast featured participation from Sukhoi jets, Chetak helicopters, the 'Sarang' helicopter aerobatics team, and the 'Akashganga' skydiving team.

**The Army Chief's Message to the New Officers**

Modern warfare has become transparent; every activity is monitored around the clock. Consequently, there is an imperative need to remain extremely vigilant regarding troop deployment, operational execution, and the security of civilians residing near the borders.
Victory resides in the mind; it is not won solely on the ground. Information warfare succeeds only when the entire nation stands united and places its trust in those disseminating information. A nation whose citizens and institutions repose faith in one another invariably remains in a position of strength.
As the pace of warfare accelerates, there arises a need to seek support while remaining within the constraints of available resources, thereby enabling rapid decision-making. Managing a multitude of technologies and resources necessitates automation, wherein Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a pivotal role.

Future conflicts will not be fought solely through conventional means; rather, they will unfold across multiple fronts. These will encompass land, air, sea, space, cyber domains, the electromagnetic spectrum, and—significantly—the realm of human minds and perceptions. Ever since I assumed command, I have spoken of the concept of an "Eagle on the Arm." This implies that every soldier should have an 'eagle' in their hands—that is, every soldier must possess the capability to operate drones. Training for this is currently underway at our academies and various other locations.

**Army's Theatre Command System May Commence in the Next 2-3 Years**

Speaking on the Theatre Command structure, General Dwivedi stated that the process is moving forward. The comprehensive report regarding this has been submitted to the Defence Minister. Furthermore, the proposal is currently undergoing review at various levels.

He explained that under this new framework, the Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force will retain responsibility for the operational readiness and resources of their respective services, while the Theatre Commanders will oversee joint military operations.

The Army Chief expressed optimism that this system could be seen implemented on the ground within the next 2 to 3 years, emphasizing that the core interests of all three services would be duly safeguarded during this transition.

Currently, India has a total of 17 separate commands distributed across the three services. While the three services do collaborate during military operations, their command structures remain distinct.

Under the Theatre Command system, there will be a single unified commander designated for a specific geographical region or mission. Consequently, all three branches of the armed forces will operate in complete unison.

**The Army is Transforming Itself as Part of the "Decade of Transformation"**

General Dwivedi stated that, cognizant of the evolving nature of warfare, the Indian Army is actively preparing itself for the future. Under the "Decade of Transformation" initiative, the Army is working towards evolving into a modern, technologically advanced, and capable force.

He further detailed that various technology-centric military formations—such as the 'First Regiment Battalion,' 'Divyastra Batteries,' 'Shaktiman Regiments,' and 'Bharat Battalions'—are being developed within the Army utilizing existing resources. In this transformative process, the role of the younger generation has been placed at the very center. What is 'Operation Sindoor'—the second version of which was mentioned by the Army Chief?

The Indian Army launched this operation in response to a terrorist attack that took place in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22, 2025. The terrorist attack claimed the lives of 26 people. Subsequently, on the night of May 6–7, the Indian Army completely destroyed nine major terrorist launchpads and hideouts operating from PoK—accomplishing the task in just 24 minutes.

According to satellite imagery, India also targeted Pakistan's Sargodha, Noor Khan, Bholari, and Sukkur airbases, inflicting heavy damage upon them.

According to the Army, more than 100 Pakistani soldiers and several notorious terrorists were killed during this operation. However, a ceasefire between the two nations was declared on May 10.
