Patiala, Punjab – In a significant breakthrough for national security, the Punjab Police has dismantled a terror module backed by Pakistan’s ISI and Malaysia-based Khalistani operatives. The arrests follow a late-night explosion on a railway track near the Shambhu-Rajpura border on April 27, 2026.

The Incident: Failed Detonation Attempt

The blast occurred around 10:00 PM on a track primarily used for freight trains. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varun Sharma, the incident was a botched "attempted detonation."

The individual attempting to plant and trigger the explosive was killed instantly when the device went off prematurely. Police recovered the body, described as being "blown to pieces," from the site. No other casualties or significant damage to railway property were reported, though the event triggered a high-alert across the state.

Arrests and Identification

Following a swift technical investigation involving SIM card tracking and forensic evidence, the Patiala Police arrested four key members of the module:

1. Pradeep Singh Khalsa (Mansa) – Identified as the mastermind.

2. Kulwinder Singh (Mansa).

3. Satnam Singh (Tarn Taran).

4. Gurpreet Singh (Tarn Taran).

The deceased bomber has been identified as Jagroop Singh, who reportedly had links to the radical group Waris Punjab De.

The Foreign Connection: ISI and Malaysia

Investigations revealed that the module was being operated by handlers based in Malaysia with direct support from Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

• Mastermind Activities: Pradeep Singh Khalsa was reportedly in constant contact with separatist leaders in Malaysia. He was allegedly responsible for radicalizing local youth and sending them to Malaysia for "training" before assigning them terror tasks in India.

• Organization: Khalsa had formed a separatist group under the name 'Chalda Vaheer Chakravarti Attariye' to mask their activities.

Recoveries and Future Plots

The police recovered a cache of weapons and high-tech equipment from the accused, including:

• One Hand Grenade

• Two .30 Bore Pistols with live ammunition.

• Laptops and Encrypted Communication Devices used to stay in touch with foreign handlers.

Officials stated that the group was planning further attacks on public infrastructure and police establishments to disturb the peace in Punjab.

Political Reactions

The incident has sparked a political firestorm. Opposition leaders from the Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) have criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, alleging a complete breakdown of law and order and an "intelligence failure" despite prior threats.
