Explosion Rocks Punjab Railway Track: Suspected Saboteur Killed, Track Damaged

PATIALA: A major security alert was triggered in Punjab after a blast occurred on the railway tracks near the Shambhu-Ambala border late Monday night. The explosion damaged a portion of the track and left a mutilated body at the scene, prompting a massive investigation by state and central agencies.

The Incident

The blast took place around 10:00 PM on a track primarily used for freight and passenger movement between Delhi and Rajpura. Upon reaching the spot, Patiala Police and forensic teams discovered the mangled remains of an unidentified man. Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased was likely an operative attempting to plant or detonate an explosive device when it went off prematurely.

Damage and Disruptions

• Track Integrity: The explosion caused structural damage to the rails, leading to an immediate halt of train services on the route.

• Evidence Recovered: Police have recovered a SIM card and other technical evidence from the site, which are currently being analyzed to trace the individual's handlers.
