The Punjab Police will receive approximately 1600 new personnel by March 2026. These will include Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs). These appointments are being made on a promotional basis. All the personnel are currently undergoing training. This was announced by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav at a press conference in Chandigarh today.

The DGP stated that this will strengthen the police stations. He also said that after calling Dial 112, police assistance will arrive within five to eight minutes. The police have decided to improve their response time for emergency calls. Currently, the response time in Punjab is ten to twelve minutes. They are also planning to purchase 8100 new vehicles for the Police Control Room (PCR).
