He stepped out of Rohtak's Sunaria Jail at 6:30 AM on Tuesday (May 26) on a 30-day parole and reached the Dera headquarters in Sirsa around 9:15 AM. His convoy comprised eight luxury vehicles, including models such as the Toyota Land Cruiser and Fortuner Legender.

This marks the 16th parole for Ram Rahim, who is currently serving a life sentence for the sexual exploitation of female disciples (Sadhvis). This is the second time he has been released from jail within just the first five months of this year. In January 2026, he was granted a 40-day parole and returned to jail in February. Since his conviction in 2017, the Dera chief has previously been granted parole or furlough on 15 occasions.

Exercising caution, the Rohtak jail administration released Ram Rahim early in the morning to prevent any crowd from gathering. Ram Rahim's convoy entered the Sirsa Dera premises through the rear gate. Following the Dera chief's arrival in Sirsa, the police administration has been placed on high alert. While the number of devotees (Sangat) at the Dera was low in the morning, the crowd is expected to swell as the day progresses. Followers are now eagerly awaiting a message from Ram Rahim.

**Granted 40-Day Parole on January 5**

Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years in prison in connection with the sexual exploitation case involving female disciples. He is currently serving his sentence at Sunaria Jail. On January 5, he was released from jail on a 40-day parole. That occasion coincided with 'Shah Satnam Day.' During that period, he stayed at the Dera's headquarters in Sirsa. On previous occasions when he was out of jail, he had stayed at the Dera's ashram in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh.

Immediately upon his arrival in Sirsa, he released a video message to his followers, urging them to strictly adhere to the instructions issued by the Dera officials. Imprisoned Since 2017

In fact, the convict Ram Rahim has been in jail since August 25, 2017, when he was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment in two cases related to the sexual exploitation of female disciples (Sadhvis). On January 17, 2019, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in the murder case of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati.

However, the Punjab and Haryana High Court subsequently acquitted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim in the Ram Chander Chhatrapati murder case. Nevertheless, the court upheld the convictions of three co-accused: Kuldeep Singh, Nirmal Singh, and Krishan Lal.

Furthermore, in October 2021, a CBI court sentenced him to life imprisonment in the murder case of Dera manager Ranjit Singh. Three years later, the Punjab and Haryana High Court acquitted the Dera chief in this case as well.

What are Parole and Furlough—the mechanisms through which Ram Rahim is released?

Parole: A prisoner may be granted parole if they have completed a certain portion of their sentence. Prisoners are granted parole only under special circumstances—such as the death or illness of a family member, the marriage of a close relative, or other compelling reasons. There are two types of parole: Regular and Custody. Under Regular Parole, the prisoner is allowed to remain at liberty, whereas under Custody Parole, the prisoner is accompanied by police personnel.

Learn about Furlough as well: A prisoner does not require any specific special circumstances to be eligible for furlough; it is their legal right. Every state has formulated its own specific rules and guidelines regarding furlough. While the rules and guidelines across many states are largely similar, the actual procedure for obtaining furlough varies from state to state.

The disciplined officials include three Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) and one Medical Officer (MO). The stern action was taken due to alleged non-performance, gross negligence, and a critical failure to effectively monitor and implement state-level initiatives aimed at improving the Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB).

The formal orders were issued by the Additional Chief Secretary (Health), Sumita Misra, sending a clear message across the state's medical infrastructure regarding accountability and performance standards.

Identity of the Suspended Health Officials

The official state directive lists the four affected medical personnel and their respective Community Health Centres (CHCs):

Dr. Tina Anand: Senior Medical Officer (SMO) posted at CHC Purkhas in Sonipat.

Dr. Vijay Parmar: Senior Medical Officer (SMO) posted at CHC Radaur in Yamunanagar.

Dr. Satpal: Senior Medical Officer (SMO) posted at CHC Chiri in Rohtak.

Dr. Prabha: Medical Officer (MO) posted at CHC Sehlang in Narnaul.

During their suspension period, these four officers will be detached from their current positions and attached to the offices of Civil Surgeons in Rohtak, Ambala, Jhajjar, and Rewari, respectively.

Reason Behind the Massive Crackdown

The primary catalyst for this swift disciplinary action is a recent, alarming dip in the state's gender metrics.

Key Statistics: In the first four months of 2026, Haryana’s Sex Ratio at Birth dropped significantly to 898 girls per 1,000 boys. This is a troubling decline compared to last year's record-high average of 923 girls per 1,000 boys.

Districts like Sonipat, Rohtak, and Yamunanagar—the exact jurisdictions of the suspended SMOs—were identified as major underperformers, dragging the gender ratio well below the critical 900-mark. Consequently, the government initiated formal disciplinary proceedings against them under Rule 7 of the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 2016.

Strict Implementation of PC&PNDT and MTP Acts

Following the suspensions, Additional Chief Secretary Sumita Misra reinforced that the Health Department will show zero tolerance toward lax enforcement. She directed all district health authorities and Civil Surgeons to fiercely ramp up field-level monitoring.

The department is aggressively pursuing the strict implementation of:

The PC&PNDT Act: (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act) to entirely eliminate illegal sex-determination practices and female foeticide.

The MTP Act: (Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act) to ensure legal compliance and protect public health.

All districts have been ordered to increase surprise raids on diagnostic facilities, enhance local intelligence, and establish robust grassroot-level surveillance systems to catch offenders early and stabilize the state's sex ratio.

All of them suffered burns covering 50 to 60 percent of their bodies. One of the injured is a pregnant woman whose condition is critical. The force of the blast caused the walls of the house to collapse and even resulted in cracks appearing in the ceiling slab. The incident occurred around 8:00 AM, while gas was being transferred from a large cylinder to a smaller one inside the house.

Reports suggest that a sudden, loud explosion occurred during the gas transfer process, causing fire to engulf the entire house and trapping the people present inside. The blast was so powerful that it triggered panic in the surrounding area, prompting neighbors to rush to the scene to offer assistance. The injured were subsequently referred from the Civil Hospital to the PGI (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) for advanced treatment.

According to reports, two filled gas cylinders were kept in the room where the explosion took place; fortunately, these cylinders were not caught in the blast. Additionally, several other individuals had been present in the room earlier but had left for work at a nearby factory just moments before the explosion occurred.

**All in Critical Condition; Undergoing Treatment**

Upon receiving news of the incident in Salempur village, ambulances immediately arrived at the scene, and all the injured individuals were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Jagadhri. After receiving preliminary treatment there, 10 of the injured were referred to the PGI. The condition of several victims is reported to be critical. All the injured individuals are said to belong to migrant families. Approximately 17 rooms in this locality are occupied by migrant workers residing there with their families.

Upon being informed of the incident, the police also arrived at the scene and have initiated an investigation into the matter. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the accident likely occurred due to negligence. **These Individuals Were Injured in the Cylinder Accident**

The injured include Shanti (daughter of Vijender, 4), Shubhavati (daughter of Gajender, 11), Neha (daughter of Bende Raj, 9), Reena (wife of Gajender, 40), Saraswati (daughter of Vrinda Lal, 10), Sangeeta (wife of Ramsaran, 20)—who is two months pregnant—Simran (daughter of Gajender, 2 months), Vijayanti (daughter of Yogender, 6), Ramsaran (son of Ramvilas, 43), Ramgyan (son of Harichand, 43), and Anshu (daughter of Bhutan Thakur, 8).

**Up to 60 Percent of Bodies Burned**

With the exception of Anshu, all the victims have sustained burns ranging from 50 to 60 percent. Consequently, the remaining 10 patients have been referred to PGI Chandigarh with the assistance of four ambulances. Anshu is currently undergoing treatment at the Jagadhri Civil Hospital. Following the accident, two surgeons at the Jagadhri Civil Hospital immediately attended to the patients. DC Preeti also contacted the hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured.

**Many People Had Left the Room Just Half an Hour Earlier**

Eyewitnesses state that had this accident occurred half an hour earlier, the consequences could have been far more severe, as most of the migrant workers were present in their rooms at that time. They had subsequently left to go work at the factory.

**Injured Victim Says: Accident Caused by Leaking Cylinder**

Meanwhile, one of the injured victims, Ramsaran, explained that they were cooking food on a stove set up outside the room. Two gas cylinders were kept nearby, one of which was leaking. Suddenly, the leaking cylinder toppled over and fell into the room; this caused the entire gas content to leak inside, which then ignited upon contact with the stove's flame outside, resulting in a fireball and an explosion.

**SHO States: Accident Occurred While Transferring Gas Between Cylinders**

Tarsem Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Jagadhri Sadar Police Station, stated that preliminary information suggests the accident occurred while gas was being transferred from one cylinder to another inside the room. Currently, the police are investigating the matter. The actual cause of the accident will only be determined after the investigation. A forensic team has also arrived at the scene. Members of two families have been injured in this accident.

Haryana has not been receiving a continuous water supply from the Beas-Sutlej Link (BSL) since March 4, 2026. In this regard, the Chief Engineer of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department has written a letter to the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), seeking an explanation for the situation and demanding the immediate release of water. According to the department, gauge readings have consistently registered zero since March 4, making it evident that Haryana has received no water through the BSL during this period.

The letter states that due to the complete cessation of water flow from the BSL system, Haryana is receiving less than its allocated share of water. The state's water supply relies heavily on the Beas and Sutlej rivers; consequently, a reduction in water availability could have a direct impact on the state's requirements as well as the supply to Delhi-NCR.

**A Grave Situation May Arise**

The department has also noted that, in the absence of any contribution from the SYL canal, Haryana is currently able to draw only 1.62 MAF of water through the existing system. Under these circumstances, any further reduction in water supply could precipitate a grave situation for the state. Finally, the BBMB has been urged to immediately release Haryana's stipulated share of water and to ensure that the water supply via the BSL (Sundernagar) is not allowed to drop to zero levels.

**Supply Halted Since March 4**

The letter explicitly states that the water supply from the BSL to Haryana has been suspended since March 4, 2026. Gauge readings have consistently been recorded at zero. The Irrigation Department has sought a clarification from the BBMB regarding this matter. Apprehensions have been raised that the state is receiving less than its rightful share of water. Indeed, Haryana is heavily dependent on the waters of the Beas and Sutlej rivers. Furthermore, the state's capacity is already limited due to the non-completion of the SYL canal. A shortage of water could also adversely affect the supply to Delhi-NCR.

**BBMB's Rationale**

Meanwhile, according to sources, the reason behind the reduced water flow through the BSL lies in technical glitches at the Dehar Power House—a critical component of the diversion system. At the Dehar Project, only two of the six turbines are currently operational, which has significantly restricted the transfer of water from the Beas basin to the Sutlej.

The BBMB has attributed this issue to aging infrastructure, stating that the Dehar Power House—which is over four decades old—requires immediate repairs.

**BBMB Has Written to the CEA**

Officials stated that the BBMB has already approached the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) to provide consultancy services for the renovation and modernization of the turbines. The repair and restoration process is expected to be time-consuming, during which the capacity to divert water flow may remain limited.

He was a member of a Facebook group where he established contact with a Bangladeshi national named Mamunur Rashid. Rashid requested Gmail IDs from him, promising to pay him in USDT cryptocurrency in exchange. Subsequently, he provided approximately 300 Gmail IDs to Mamunur Rashid.

FARIDABAD:

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a severe road accident in Faridabad claimed the life of a young man late last night. The victim, who was driving a luxury Land Rover Defender, died on the spot after his vehicle violently rammed into a heavily loaded dumper truck parked negligently on the side of the road. The tragic incident has left two families devastated, especially given the emotional backdrop: the young man had been married for just a year and was returning to his residence after safely dropping his wife off at her maternal home.

The fatal collision occurred in the late hours of the night on a major stretch of the Faridabad highway. According to initial reports from the local authorities, the victim was traveling alone in his SUV. He had spent the earlier part of the evening dropping his wife off at her parents' house and was making his way back home. The road stretch where the accident took place is known to handle heavy commercial traffic, and it was here that a massive dumper truck had been parked along the roadside.

Eyewitnesses and highway patrol officers stated that the dumper truck lacked proper functional tail lights, hazard indicators, or reflective safety tapes, making it nearly invisible in the dark. As the young man was driving his Defender at cruising speed, he likely failed to spot the stationary heavy vehicle in time to brake or swerve. The resulting impact was catastrophic. The front end of the robust luxury SUV was completely crushed, sliding underneath the rear chassis of the elevated dumper truck.

Passersby who heard the deafening crash immediately rushed to the scene and alerted the emergency services. Upon receiving the distress call, a team from the local Faridabad police station, accompanied by a rescue unit and an ambulance, arrived at the accident site. However, the severity of the crash made rescue operations incredibly challenging. The cabin of the Defender was heavily mangled, and rescue personnel had to use specialized metal cutters and hydraulic tools to pry the wreckage open and extricate the victim.

Despite the prompt response, the young man had sustained severe, massive trauma to his head and chest due to the high-impact collision. He was immediately rushed to the nearest government hospital in Faridabad, where attending physicians declared him dead on arrival.

The news of the tragedy sent shockwaves through his family and the local community. Relatives who rushed to the hospital were inconsolable. The tragedy is heavily compounded by the fact that the couple had celebrated their first wedding anniversary only recently. What was supposed to be a routine trip to drop his wife off at her maternal home turned into an unimaginable nightmare. Family members wept as they recalled his lively nature and the promising future the young couple had ahead of them.

Local police have initiated a thorough investigation into the crash. An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered against the driver of the dumper truck under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for causing death by negligence and endangering public safety. The driver of the truck reportedly fled the scene immediately after the collision, abandoning the heavy vehicle on the highway. Police have seized the dumper and are currently tracing its registration details to apprehend the absconding driver and the transport company owner.

The deceased's body was handed over to his grieving family members on Sunday morning following a mandatory post-mortem examination.

This devastating incident has once again highlighted the severe and chronic issue of road safety in the National Capital Region (NCR). Illegally parked heavy vehicles, particularly dumper trucks and lorries, along poorly lit highways have become a notorious death trap for nighttime commuters. Despite repeated warnings and safety campaigns by the traffic police, the lack of stringent enforcement allows commercial drivers to abandon their vehicles on highway shoulders without proper warning reflectors. Authorities are now being urged by local citizens to take strict, uncompromising action against transport operators who flout highway parking protocols, to ensure that no other family has to suffer such an unbearable and preventable loss.

"No Police, Only Payback": Rohtak ZP Vice-Chairman Anil Hooda Issues 48-Hour Revenge Ultimatum After Attack

Rohtak ZP Vice-Chairman Anil Hooda refuses to file an FIR after being attacked, openly threatening violent revenge within two days.

The Erosion of Legal Recourse in Rohtak's Political Landscape

The foundation of any civil society relies heavily on the rule of law and the public's trust in judicial institutions. However, an alarming incident in Rohtak, Haryana, has dramatically underscored what happens when those in power choose to bypass the system altogether. Anil Hooda, the Vice-Chairman of the Rohtak Zila Parishad, was recently the target of an attack. While the assault itself is a serious matter of public safety, it is Hooda’s shocking aftermath reaction that has sent ripples of anxiety throughout the region.

Rather than turning to local law enforcement to identify and prosecute his attackers, Hooda has made a brazen public declaration: he will not file a First Information Report (FIR). Instead, he has openly vowed to take the law into his own hands, promising to "take revenge" and "settle the score completely within two days." This is not just a passing comment made in the heat of the moment; it is a calculated, public ultimatum that directly challenges the authority of the state police and the judiciary.

The Danger of the 48-Hour Ultimatum

By putting a strict two-day timeline on his planned retaliation, Hooda has essentially set a ticking time bomb in Rohtak. This public threat transforms a localized skirmish into a high-stakes spectacle of vigilante justice. When an elected representative—someone chosen to uphold the welfare and order of a district—openly advocates for street justice, it sets a highly dangerous precedent for the general public. It sends a message that the police are either ineffective or irrelevant, and that true power lies in one's ability to orchestrate physical retaliation.

Furthermore, this 48-hour deadline creates an atmosphere of immense fear and anticipation among local residents. The citizens of Rohtak are now forced to brace for an impending clash, knowing that retaliatory violence rarely stays contained and often spills over, affecting innocent bystanders.

Systemic Implications and the Role of Authorities

Hooda’s refusal to engage with the police raises critical questions about the current state of law and order in Haryana. Does his decision stem from a lack of faith in the local police’s ability to deliver justice? Or is it a display of raw political machismo, designed to project strength and intimidate rivals? Regardless of the underlying motivation, the result is the same: a blatant disregard for the legal framework.

This situation places an enormous burden on the local administration and law enforcement. The police cannot simply wait for a formal complaint to be filed when an open threat of violence has been broadcasted to the public. Preventive measures are urgently required. Authorities must take suo motu cognizance (acting on their own accord) of the threats made by Hooda and the initial attack that triggered them. Security in the region must be heightened, and both the attackers and those threatening retaliation must be brought under legal scrutiny to prevent further bloodshed.

Conclusion

The unfolding drama surrounding Anil Hooda is a stark reminder of the fragile line between democratic governance and feudal retribution. True leadership is demonstrated not through violent retaliation, but through a commitment to the rule of law, even when one is personally wronged. As the clock ticks on Hooda's two-day ultimatum, all eyes are on the Rohtak administration to see if they can de-escalate the situation and restore the authority of the badge over the rule of the mob.

However, the court upheld the sentences of three accused, Kuldeep Singh, Nirmal Singh, and Krishan Lal.

Earlier, on January 17, 2019, a special CBI court in Panchkula sentenced Ram Rahim and all the other accused to seven years in prison. The accused had filed a petition against this in the High Court.

Delivering the verdict, the High Court stated that there was insufficient evidence to prove Ram Rahim's involvement in the murder, resulting in his acquittal.

Ram Rahim had previously been acquitted by the High Court in the murder of Dera manager Ranjeet. However, the CBI has challenged this sentence in the Supreme Court. Ram Rahim has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in the sexual exploitation of sadhvis case. Consequently, Ram Rahim will remain in prison.

Meanwhile, Ramchandra's son, Anshul, commented on the court's decision, saying that the CBI had argued the case well and presented all the evidence. It is wrong to exonerate Ram Rahim. We will now approach the Supreme Court.

Murder in 2002
Journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati had published some serious allegations against the Dera in his newspaper, after which he was shot and killed in 2002. This caused a significant uproar. The investigation was subsequently handed over to the CBI. After a lengthy hearing, the CBI Special Court convicted the Dera chief and other accused in the case, sentencing them to life imprisonment. All the accused filed appeals against this decision in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The High Court stated: Lack of evidence
During the hearing in the High Court, the defense and the CBI argued, but the court found the evidence insufficient. Meanwhile, against Kuldeep, Nirmal, and Kishan Lal, the court found that the evidence and witnesses available against them clearly established their roles. On this basis, the High Court upheld his life sentence.

Read what Ram Rahim's lawyer argued...

He was hit by a bullet made of soft lead: In court, Ram Rahim's lawyer, Basant Rai, argued that evidence had been tampered with. The bullet that struck the journalist was made of soft lead. This bullet is used in sniper and military equipment. Now, 23 years have passed, the marks and signatures on it are no longer visible.
The box was unsealed: Lawyer Basant Rai stated that the box in which the bullet that struck the journalist was kept had an AIIMS seal and the signature of a forensic expert. The box was also brought to court sealed. If the seal was never opened, how did the FSL expert examine the bullet? It's also unclear whether the marks were on the bullet or the box.
The High Court stated that there were no visible marks on the bullets. During the hearing, the High Court noted that no marks were visible on the bullets. The court asked the complainant's lawyer whether the forensic expert had signed the bullets or the container. The lawyer argued that the expert's signature was on the container. The bullets no longer bear any signature marks. Only after an investigation will it be clear whether the bullets were also signed.

Now, read in 2 points... Who was journalist Chhatrapati?

Published a letter about sexual abuse: Journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati was a resident of Sirsa district, Haryana. In 2000, he left his law practice and started his own newspaper in Sirsa. In 2002, someone sent him a letter detailing the sexual abuse of nuns at the Dera. Chhatrapati subsequently published the letter in his Evening Time newspaper on May 30, 2002. Shot dead with five bullets: After the letter was published in the newspaper, Chhatrapati began receiving repeated threats. Despite this, he continued to write against the Dera. The family alleged that he received repeated threats over a period of three to four months. On the night of October 19, 2002, Ramchandra was shot dead with five bullets while he was outside his home. He died two days later, on October 21, while undergoing treatment.
